- Prof. Aloysius Okolie applauded the Senate for suspending Senator Ali Ndume
- He said he should have investigated the claims before making allegation
- The UNN lecturer also advised President Buhari to re-nominate another EFCC chairman
Prof. Aloysius Okolie has lashed out at Senator Ali Ndume saying he deserves to be suspended by the Senate for trying to blackmail it.
Ndume was suspended by the Senate for six months after he called for investigation into allegations that that Senator Dino Melaye did not graduate from Ahmadu Bello University and Senate president, Bukola Saraki was involved in the purchase of a bullet-proof vehicle.
The duo was however cleared by the Senate committee on ethics and according to Vanguard, the professor of political science at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka said Ndume was wrong for basing his allegation on what he read in the news.

He said: “As a distinguished senator, he should not talk like ordinary man on the street; he must have facts and figures before casting aspersion on anybody.
“He claimed he read about the alleged certificate forgery of Sen. Dino Melaye and importation of bullet proof Range Rover SUV by the Senate President in newspapers.
“That is not enough to blackmail the Senate.
“Ndume should have gone further to carry out a personal investigation to verify if the allegations are true or false before jumping into conclusion.”
He said the Senate followed due process before it punished Ndume.
“If the two allegations are true, Nigerians and the world would have celebrated Ndume as one who brought the issue to the floor; but now they are false, so he should also bear the consequences.
“This is good lesson for whistle blowers; there is nothing wrong in blowing the whistle, but you must ensure you have facts and figures of what you are saying.
“It’s unfortunate that Ndume’s suspension will deny Borno South Senatorial District a voice in Senate for six months.
“But it will also provide opportunity for his people to assess if he has given the district effective representation.”
Okolie also advised President Muhammadu Buhari to nominate another person as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes considering that the Senate has rejected him.
He said: “If I am Mr President, I will nominate another person as EFCC chairman and give Magu another appointment to avert further row with the Senate.”

– The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has traced a N1.35billion properties traced to the governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose – This was made possible by detectives of the anti-graft agency – It was revealed that the properties were acquired under six months when Fayose assumed office as Ekiti state governor Investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) showed how Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti state governor purchased N1.35billion properties under six months in office he assumed office. The five properties bought by Fayose are four duplexes in Lagos and one in Abuja, the federal capital territory. READ ALSO: Massive protest against Fayose ongoing in Ekiti (photos) The anti-graft agency has called upon three more people for interrogation on Friday, July 8 in respect to the ongoing investigation of Governor Fayose. One of those invited is one Oyin Daramola, who is an estate agent. Daramola was said to have told the EFCC men that she did a legitimate transaction. She said she had never been fradulent practices in all her business transactions. Besides the estate agent, two other people are to present evidence on the legitimacy of their business. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter N1.35billion Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti state governor The Nation reports that as the Friday, July 7 day of interrogation approaches, the EFCC relocated Fayose’s associate, Abiodun Agbele, from Lagos to the nation’s capital. The governor was inaugurated on October 16, 2014, but by April 2015, he had acquired the properties in Lagos and Abuja. The four duplexes, which were bought at $1.3m each, are located on Tiamiyu Savage Street on Victoria Island in Lagos. Each of the mansions is a four-bedroom duplex. According to EFCC’s findings, while chalets 3 and 4 were purchased through Siqnathor, chalets 6 and 9 were owned by Noga Hotel The fifth duplex was bought from the Skye Bank Plc at N200million. Although the transactions were handled by Still Earth belonging to Oyin Daramola, the governor has refused to pay estate agency fees up until the time of filing this report. Instead, he offered to pay fees through the award of contracts to the estate agent in Ekiti State to defray the commission on the five properties. Agbele allegedly brokered the deals. Another source, who was privy to the preliminary investigation, said: “They approached Oyin Daramola through Abiodun Agbele whom she knew in Ibadan. “Upon seeing Agbele, who came to seek assistance to buy the four duplexes in Lagos, it was obvious he was looking so poor and could not afford the huge cost. “ Agbele then said his friend, who wanted the duplexes, will call her. It was then Fayose later called Oyin Daramola. We have the call logs and the transcript of the conversation or negotiation already. “Investigation confirmed that Fayose did not pay the agency fees but only offered to give contracts to Still Earth belonging to Daramola in Ekiti State to pay the required fees. “Unknowingly, he wanted to award the contracts for kick-back to feather his nest.” For questioning are Daramola of Still Earth, her former accountant and a consultant, simply called Titilayo of Philberth company. “We are going to interact with these three people on Friday as part of the ongoing investigation of the governor. We had a preliminary interface with Daramola, who was innocently manipulated by Agbele and the governor for a legitimate business,” the EFCC source said. Daramola reportedly told the EFCC team: “I did legitimate business, I am not fraudulent. I don’t do dirty business deals. “You can check my background and business records; I have never been involved in shady transactions. Even the purchase of the duplexes, I made sure every process is documented without cutting corners. I have no cause to live a dubious life.”

On April 13th, Meizu released it's latest interactive technology on PRO 6 launch event: 3D Press.

But what is 3D Press?

“3D Press is a brand-new way to interact with your phone. Different from the traditional clicking and flicking gestures, the Meizu PRO 6 can register differences in pressing force on the screen in real time and then call the corresponding preview results and hotkey functions. This technology not only improves the operation efficiency, but also makes more interactions between human and machine possible. Furthermore, the 3D Press technology also brings you tactile vibration feedback in addition to visual changes.” --- from official Meizu website.

On the launching event, we can see that the screen can sense the intensity of the user's touch. And what makes 3D Press more useful is that by pressing the screen, users can preview picture or website link, use the most-frequently used functions of an app, and what's more, the SDK of 3D Press is now open to all developers, more apps will be using this feature and facilitate users' usage.

I'm sure you were wondering: how does it work?

Traditionally, a capacitive screen has a capacitive sensing module which contains two layers of mutually perpendicular ITO conducting circuit modules. These two modules resemble X-axis and Y-axis, and when a finger touches the screen, the capacitance on the touch spot will be changed. The controller in the screen will calculate the change, and locate the spot according to this X and Y axises, thus a screen-touching action is completed.
To achieve pressure sensing on the screen, the engineers added a row of pressure sensors between display module and metal supporting board of the screen. It's like adding a Z-axis so the touch pressure can be sensed in 3 dimensions.
As a result, everytime user presses on the screen, the sensor will be slightly bended to respond the touch, meanwhile it detects the interspace between display module and supporting board and react in an instant, accurate and consistent manner. This react generates a microvibration feedback through internal motor. This 3-dimension data helps users achieve 3D Press.

To think about it, 3D Press changed the way to interact with our phones because in the past, our touch only impacts the screen in 'position' and 'width'; however, now our touch can actually impact on the 'depth' of our screen. This brings a vast new possibilities to our daily usage of the phone. Just imagine, in the future, you can use this feature to play piano games where the games can actually capture the intensity of your fingers' touch, just like a real piano. Or you can use this feature to achieve accelerate, break and stop action in a car-racing game. Or, when you're using painting apps, the stroke of your painting can be light or deep-colored according to your finger's touch intensities.

Sounds amazing, and ... a little difficult to visualize, right? Let's see a gif to feel the real 3D Press:

Impressed, right? What do you think is the most practical usage of 3D Press?

THE NEXT JOB FOR PRESIDENT GOODLUCK
The bleeding will continue for the most of this year. However, it is the prayer of every true patriot that the PDP does not bleed to death and survives to establish a formidable opposition to the incoming government.
President Goodluck Jonathan will perhaps be as busy as he is in Aso Rock to lead the rebirth of the PDP as a credible and strong opposition party. He must not make the mistake of retiring from partisan politics when he hands over power on May 29. The PDP will need a leader if it stands any hope of surviving as an opposition party and Mr Jonathan is the best candidate for this role. Working with influential governors that remain with the party after May 29, he will need to roll up his sleeves and rebuild a party that has been brought to its knees after 16 years of rule.
Much has been said about Mr Jonathan’s inability to inspire; and critics will doubt his ability to lead an opposition that will be very unruly in the coming years. However, the very nature of Nigerian politics puts presidents and former presidents as very influential party leaders who command the loyalty and finance needed to power a political party. Seeing that former President Olusegun Obasanjo has exited the PDP, the next candidate that meets these qualifications is Mr Jonathan.
The president would understandably lose some of his influence over PDP governors in the incoming administration, but would still retain some loyalty from especially hugely influential governors such as Nyesom Wike of Rivers and Ayo Fayose of Ekiti. He would need to work with these loyalists to attract more technocrats and influential youths to the party. The next two years should be spent on an aggressive recruitment drive to fill the void that will be left in the party. As democracy deepens in Nigeria, more professionals are flirting with partisan politics. They need to be wooed.
Mr Jonathan would also need to focus on securing more parliamentary seats and states for the PDP in 2019 rather than gun for the Presidency. Barring any major gaffe by the APC in the next four years, Nigerians would most likely give the party a second term in 2019; especially if the party delivers on 50 percent of its promises. The PDP will be too weak to contest the centre in 2019. A strategy that focuses on recovering states it has lost in traditional strongholds needs to be a matter of top priority. A key part of this strategy would be in fielding very attractive candidates.
Widely seen as a gentleman even by his critics, President Jonathan would need to lead an opposition that would not be seen as rabid and unduly antagonistic. Having been on the hot seat, he would need to bring his experience to bear on the vital task of leading constructive criticism on the APC government. Finding a more vibrant and intelligent party spokesman than the dour Olisa Metuh is a critical step in this direction. Issues should be on the front burner of the attacks on the APC. Policies should be fought with alternative policies. Actions should be compared with results noticed during the Jonathan administration. Indeed, a strategic response team should be an integral part of the PDP as an opposition party.
Perhaps his most important job would be to play peacemaker and heal wounded egos in the coming months and years. Arrogance has no place in politics; and so President Jonathan would need to work hard to repair damaged relationships and bring some influential members back to the party. Inevitably, not every bigwig will be satisfied with the way things turn out in the APC as soon as it takes over government. Mr Jonathan needs to be prepared and waiting in the wings to move in for the kill when this happens. For him to be able to do this effectively, he would need to swallow his pride and go a begging.
On May 29, Mr Jonathan will leave office as president of Nigeria; but remains the leader of the PDP. He must not relinquish that other job as well. Indeed, when/if he writes his memoirs, for him to be able to add another more positive chapter to the embarrassing one of being the first incumbent president to lose an election; he would need to power an opposition party into office.
